If you weren’t aware the front of my car looks like this. This will become important later in the story.
It was the end of another dreary grey drippy day and I was on my home from work. My eyes were feeling heavy so I figured I’d stop at this gas station and get a snack and a caffeinated beverage.
I pull up to the store and I park right in front of a window that the cashier is stationed next to and start fiddling with my phone for a minute. When I look some lady is looking out the window at me or maybe something behind me.
Whatever, I need some caffeine. As soon as I walk into the store I hear the lady that was looking out at me say in a fairly neutral tone, “What do you think those are?” Her coworker responds, “I think those are cable ties.”
I’m preparing myself to have this lady harass me. Loading up some vitriolic stares and snide remarks just in case. But when I go over to check out this lady is all smiles. She loves my car and has never seen a car stitched together. She asks me if she can take a picture and send it to her son.
I’m completely disarmed at this point. I don’t know what to say. This is not turning out the way I think it was going to.
“Sure, you can take a picture. You should see the other side. I have a piece of sign riveted over a hole I cut into it.” The ladies coworkers laugh and tell her that she’s so funny and we all have a wonderful day.

They thought I was trying to spell love, which I couldn’t see until I pulled this picture up and I can totally see the e.
